Moscow City Scale Model to bring the capital’s history to life on International Day of Monuments and Sites

On April 18, the Moscow City Scale Model Pavilion will host a series of interactive events dedicated to International Day for Monuments and Sites for comers to enjoy lectures, quizzes, and insights into the capital’s architectural heritage, as announced by Vladislav Ovchinsky, Moscow Government Minister, Head of the Moscow Department of Urban Planning Policy.
“We want visitors to not just look at the capital’s scale model, but to truly feel a connection with the city — to understand how it developed and what it is like today. It is important for us to show a story, events and people behind every building or monument. The interactive format helps engage visitors and make their experience of the city memorable. As a result, they will get a more holistic and personal perception of Moscow,” says Vladislav Ovchinsky.
The exhibition center offers an interactive tour of the central Moscow scale model; Visitors will learn about origins of famous monuments and architectural landmarks, why they are important to the city, and what role they play today.
The tours will start at 12:10 p. m, 2:10 p. m, 4:10 p. m, and 6:10 p. m. Each tour will be followed by interactive quizzes starting at 12:40 p. m, 2:40 p. m, 4:40 p. m, and 6:40 p. m, accordingly. Participants will test their knowledge of the capital and will be able to receive memorable souvenirs.
The Moscow City Scale Model Pavilion has long been a popular destination for both tourists and locals as it presents the capital in miniature, with details that are almost unnoticeable in everyday life and that show how the megacity really changes. This format makes the issue of urban development understandable and exciting.

In addition to lectures, the pavilion regularly hosts themed tours, both in person and via video lectures, thus reaching a variety of audiences, from schoolchildren to experts who need to assess the city’s prospects.
Traditionally, visitors will enjoy light shows, to start every 30 minutes from 11:00 a. m. until 7:30 p. m.
Opened in October 2017 by Sergei Sobyanin, the Moscow City Scale Model Pavilion is an amazing venue with remarkable details allowing visitors to see the capital in miniature. It is open from 10:00 a. m. until 8:00 p. m. (free entry). Detailed information, a schedule of light shows, and tour registration are available on the website.
