On 1 October, Moscow fountains will stop flowing as per schedule, said Deputy Mayor for Housing and Utilities Pyotr Biryukov.
This year, the season began earlier than usual, on 28 April. In all, about 600 fountains operate in the city, with 58 of them – the largest ones – maintained by the Gormost state company. Among them are the fountains on Poklonnaya Gora, in Gorky Park, at VDNKh and on Pushkin Square. Other organisations service 347 fountains, including small basins, and 247 more belong to restaurants, business and shopping centres.
Monument, light, musical and even dry fountains will operate until the end of September. Then, they will undergo conservation treatment before the first snowfall.
