The logo marking the 90th anniversary of the Moscow Metro has been applied to the hull of the Soyuz-2.1a booster rocket
The logo created to mark the 90 th anniversary of the Moscow Metro has been applied to the hull of the Soyuz-2.1a booster rocket, which was launched from Baikonur Cosmodrome. The Progress MS-32 transport vehicle has already successfully docked with the International Space Station (ISS).
“In honor of the 90 th anniversary of the Moscow Metro, a Roscosmos rocket has been marked with the anniversary logo of the Moscow Metro for the first time in history. This unification of two industries — public transport and space — symbolizes forward movement, technology and respect for our country’s historical heritage,” said Maxim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry.
The flight went normally and formed part of the regular program of trips to supply the station with fuel for refueling, water, fresh food and Orlan spacesuits for cosmonauts’ spacewalks. The Progress MS series spacecraft are also used for waste disposal and to correct the orbit of the ISS.
A Moscow public transport logo was launched into space for the first time in history — this was a unique event. The cooperation between Moscow’s public transport system and Roscosmos emphasizes the importance of the development of high-tech industries and their contribution to the lives of city dwellers.
The Progress MS series of vehicles has been in use since 2015. They have made more than 20 successful flights. In October, the Moscow Metro will start running a themed train dedicated to Roscosmos.
