Addressing the forum Urban Development and Improvement of the Quality of the Urban Environment, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said that Moscow’s beautification record might be applied in the rest of Russia.
“It is important to study individual projects and synthesise the best practices that have developed so as to replicate them all over this country. This does not mean that we should switch to absolutely standard projects. No, that would be going too far. But replicating best practices is a very good idea that will help to make urban improvement and development all over the country more systematic and comprehensive.”
According to Prime Minister Medvedev, leading Russian architectural bureaus should be recruited to do this work and it is very important to take residents’ views into consideration as well.
As part of the forum, Dmitry Medvedev and Sergei Sobyanin visited a courtyard playground in Prospekt Mira, where they talked to local residents.
They thanked the Mayor for the city’s improvement efforts and asked that more greenery be planted. “Planting additional greenery is a good thing, of course, but it looks fine as it is,” the Prime Minister said.
Dmitry Medvedev also took notice of the playground’s special rubber cover. Sergei Sobyanin said it is the safest and most durable material to use.
