About 200 free wireless internet hot spots were made available inside the Boulevard Ring for City Day on 10 September.
You can move around within the perimeter without losing connection, switching from one hot spot to another without having to log in again.
The majority of people connected to the free Wi-Fi on City Day on Tverskaya Street, Chistye Prudy and Kamergersky Pereulok, using over 70 GB in two days at a rate of over 1 MB a second, which is almost twice the average connection speed available from mobile operators during festivities. Up to 15,000 users were able to simultaneously access the internet on City Day at a speed of at least 1 Megabit a second. The users mostly connected to watch the City Day celebrations on mos.ru or to share photos on social networks.
Users can log into Moscow_WiFi_Free from the Moscow portal of state services pgu.mos.ru, their profile at the Moscow Unified Mobile Platform or by text message.
The City Wi-Fi project will be extended to the Garden Ring by 2017.
