40 kilometers of new bike lanes will appear in Moscow in 2025

Since the beginning of the year, 40 kilometers of new bicycle infrastructure have appeared in the capital, said Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry Maxim Liksutov.

“Based on plans developed by the Traffic Management Center, more than 90 kilometers of bicycle infrastructure have already been created in 2025, of which 40 kilometers are new bicycle lanes. The total length of bicycle infrastructure in Moscow now exceeds 575 kilometers. We continue to make traffic in the city more comfortable,” Maxim Liksutov said.

New bike lanes have appeared in seven Moscow districts:

— Northern Administrative District — Begovoy, Khoroshevsky;

— North-Eastern Administrative District — Ostankinsky;

— North-Western Administrative District — Severnoe Tushino, Yuzhnoe Tushino;

— Central Administrative District — Basmanny, Krasnoselsky, Khamovniki;

— South-Eastern North — Eastern Administrative District — Vykhino — Zhulebino, Kuzminki, Maryino;

— Southern Administrative District — Biryulevo Zapadnoe, Danilovsky, Zyablikovo, Orekhovo-Borisovo Severnoe, Orekhovo-Borisovo Yuzhnoe;

— South-Western Administrative District — Zyuzino, Cheremushki.

A new 4.3 kilometer-long bicycle lane on both sides of Kosygina Street in the Ramenki and Gagarinsky districts has been separated from the highway. It runs alongside Sparrow Hills.

Muscow residents also have access to the Green Ring cycle route, which is 129 kilometers long. It connects 24 green zones of Moscow with metro stations, Moscow Central Ring and Moscow Central Diameters, allowing users to combine their commute to work with recreation in parks and sightseeing. The route can be recognized by the special signs with the Green Ring logo, as well as by navigation steles.

For example, you can start at Profsoyuznaya metro station, cycle past Lomonosov Moscow State University, continue along the Moskva River through Fili Park, see Stroginsky Bay, cross Timiryazevsky Park, VDNKh and Losiny Ostrov National Park, and finish the route in Golyanovo.

Work on developing cycle infrastructure is ongoing. The Traffic Management Center will continue to improve the capital’s cycle infrastructure to ensure that cycling and using other personal mobility devices is both comfortable and safe.
