Guests will hear modern and classical instrumental jazz, original compositions, as well as genres such as rockabilly, funk, soul and R&B.

The 4th Moscow Jazz Festival will be held at VDNKh from June 10 to 14 as part of the Summer in Moscow project. The best domestic and world jazz orchestras, as well as youth ensembles selected by the results of the All-Russian contest of youth jazz bands will perform on the stage at the Friendship of Peoples fountain. Admission is free.

June 10

At 5 p.m., one of the laureates of last year’s jazz festival—Mikhail Varenov’s quartet—will take the stage. The young band will perform modern instrumental jazz, original compositions, as well as cover versions of popular classics.

At 6 p.m., Yuri Terletsky and Yur’ski Band will perform. The frontman and founder of the orchestra is an internationally renowned jazzman who performs with foreign and domestic jazz and pop stars. The work of the band is a symbiosis of jazz and its related styles, which will appeal to all music lovers.

At 7:20 p.m., the LK Big Band, a group of graduates of the Moscow Jazz Academy performing exclusively original music, is scheduled to perform, and at 8:20 p.m. the Eugene Rang Quartet is scheduled to perform.

At 21:20 guests will hear the big band of the Maimonides Academy Institute of the Kosygin Russian State University. The band is led by Mikhail Brucheev, a legendary trumpeter and soloist of the Oleg Lundstrem State Chamber Orchestra of Jazz Music.

June 11

At 5 p.m., Anastasia Kaprelian, jazz singer and participant of the reality show The Voice, will take the stage. Together with her Kaprelian Band collective, she will perform popular English and Russian-language compositions, as well as original songs. At 6:10 p.m., the Mikhail Maryshev Trio, playing in the contemporary jazz style, is scheduled to perform.

At 7 p.m., all music lovers will be delighted by the Moscow band Whales and Stars, whose work combines Russian melody with European jazz aesthetics. At 20:00 it is possible to listen to performance of jazz-orchestra of Magnitogorsk state conservatory of a name of M.I. Glinka, and at 21:00 the show will be presented by The Betty Boop Lovers—the collective known for performance of the golden hits in the rhythms of 1950s rockabilly.

June 12

A rich musical program awaits VDNKh guests on Russia Day. Performances on the main stage will begin at 3 p.m., opened by the Daniil Machnev Quartet. At 4 p.m., the young band Nova Impulse will perform, and at 5 p.m. Funk Power, specializing in funk music, will take the stage. At 6 p.m., musicians from the Samara quartet Jazz Time will present their work.

At 7 p.m., the musical evening will be continued by Daria Ufimtseva’s quintet, to be replaced at 8 p.m. by Kickin’ Jass Orchestra from Yekaterinburg, winner of many festivals.

The day will be rounded off by Oleg Borodin’s quartet, which will perform together with a special guest of the festival—Victoria Kaunova, a young performer and leading vocalist of Igor Butman’s Moscow Jazz Orchestra. They will start at 8:40.

June 13

The musical day will begin at 3 p.m. with a performance by the Moscow collective Blaze. At 4 p.m., Alice Dikkert and Dikkert Groove Band will take the stage, performing their own compositions in Russian and songs by foreign authors in the genres of new jazz, R&B, hip-hop and funk.

At 4:20 p.m., the winners of the competition of youth jazz bands will perform, and from 5 p.m. it will be possible to listen to experienced musicians: Mark Sorokin’s quartet, Beznot collective, Light House and Telliodora orchestras.

At 9 p.m., the Soviet and Russian rock band Kvartal, performing music in the styles of jazz, soul, funk and world music, will take the stage.

June 14

On the final day of the festival, Five-Way Close, Honda Accord, Veronika Petrosyan Quintet and Veronika Bogdanovich Quartet will present their programs. They will start at 3 p.m.

At 7:40 p.m., Victor Potemkin and Pavel Babak’s quartet will perform, which will delight the audience with a classic and at the same time unique combination of saxophone and piano. At 9 p.m., there will be a concert of quartet of Dmitry Mospan: saxophonist, composer, arranger, winner of the TV project Big Jazz on the Culture TV channel.

The Moscow Jazz Festival is organized by the Igor Butman Foundation with the support of the Presidential Grants Fund and the Department of Culture of Moscow. 

Holding large-scale cultural, educational and entertainment programs at VDNKh is an essential part of the strategy to promote the capital’s hospitality industry. Organization of events for the guests of the exhibition corresponds to the objectives of the national project Tourism and Hospitality. 

The Summer in Moscow project is the main event of the season. It brings together the capital’s most exciting events. Charity, cultural and sporting events, most of them free of charge, will take place every day in all neighborhoods of the city. The Summer in Moscow project is being held for the second time, and the new season will be more breathtaking than last year, with new exciting events in addition to the traditional festivities.
