Football, Sjoelbak and BMX: activities for sports fans on City Day
Sporting events on City Day 2016 devoted to Moscow’s 869th birthday will be held on 10 and 11 September and include not only the traditional workout, drifting and BMX tournaments at Luzhniki, but also a student sports festival, women’s football, ice stock sport , boccia and Sjoelbak.

Moscow City Day sports festival

Date: 10 September, 11 am - 9 pm

Venue: Park of Legends, 23 Avtozavodskaya Street

Major sporting events will be held at the Park of Legends sports complex. On 10 September, a workout competition and a tournament for prizes from the MMA Federation will take place here. Visitors will be able to watch and take part in workout, drifting, BMX and street ball tournaments at over 50 sites. There will also be a concert featuring Uma2rman, Anacondaz, Serebro, Maks Korzh, Vlad Topalov, Dominik Dzhoker and others.

Moscow Games 2016 Festival

Date: 7-11 September, noon – 11 pm

Venue: 24/5 Luzhnetskaya Embankment

The Moscow Games 2016 student and youth sport festival will traditionally take place at the Druzhba gym at the Luzhniki sports complex. It will involve amateur athletes from 62 world universities supported by professional athletes. Moscow has hosted the festival since 2014, and it has become popular both in Russia and abroad. Since 2015, the competition has been held under the auspices of the European University Sports Association (EUSA).

Following numerous requests from participants, the organising committee added women’s football to the programme in 2016. It will also include volleyball, basketball, football, table tennis, cheerleading, rugby-7, hockey and beach volleyball tournaments.

Sporting Capital festival

Date: 10 September, 10 am – 5 pm

Venue: 46/15 Volgogradsky Prospekt

On 10 September, the Moskvich Olympic Reserve School will host the 2016 Sporting Capital festival. It traditionally includes the Spartakiad of Moscow employees, the 1st Spartakiad of pensioners, open competitions in various sports, and the Ready for Labour and Defence programme.

Disabled Sports festival

Date: 10 September, 11 am – 4 pm

Date: 26 Selskokhozyaistvennaya Street

The 27th Vorobyovy Gory Disabled Sports festival devoted to City Day will be held at the Iskra training and sports centre.

Over 1,000 physically challenged athletes will compete in 14 sports, including ice stock sport, boccia, volleyball, darts, Sjoelbak, kornhol, novus, Nordic walking, shuffleboard, draughts and chess.

Anyone aged 14 and older with a doctor’s permission and Moscow registration is invited to participate.

Moscow City Day in Fili Park

Date: 11 September, noon – 4 pm

Venue: 22 Bolshaya Filyovskaya Street

Fili Park will put on a sports extravaganza on Moscow City Day. Everyone is invited to participate.

Adult and children’s draughts and chess tournaments will use the Swiss five-round system.

Table tennis matches will consist of three sets (up to 11 points). A darts competition will be played according to the Big Round rules. Participants will compete according to their age group: under 12, 13-16, 17 plus, 55 plus (women) and 60 plus (men).

Both full (father, mother and child) and partial (one parent and child) families will enjoy races.

Registration will take place before the competitions.
