What is young art, and how can we understand it? What is the current role of classic art? What constitutes public art? What are the specifics of graffiti art and performances? Students of Moscow’s secondary and vocational schools will explore these and many other issues during Art Saturdays, scheduled to begin in September, the press service of the City Department of Education said.
Free workshops, guided tours and lectures will be held at the Printing Shop Art Centre of the Krasin Technical School, the Moscow Museum of Modern Art, the Free Workshops School of Modern Art, the Surikov Moscow State Academy Art Institute and the Palace of Young Pioneers on Vorobyovy Gory. Participants can register on the art.educom.ru website.
Art Saturdays are a follow-up to other educational projects sponsored by the city, including University Saturdays, Engineering Saturdays, Professional Environment, Activists’ Saturdays and Space Saturdays. Teenagers attend lectures and workshops, watch experts and modern production facilities in action and meet real professionals.
