Ride the Tornado and make a lightsaber: a new season starts at the Orion amusement park at VDNKh
Starting from April 18, a new season opens at the Orion family amusement park at VDNKh. Five outdoor amusement rides will be available: the Moon Express, the Tornado, the Astrodrome, the Clock Waltz and the Aerotaxi. To mark the opening of the season, an entertainment program for all visitors is to be held on April 20 and 21. Children will be able to take part in a dance masterclass, have fun at the disco, attend construction classes and play board games. All the events will be free and no pre-registration is required. Tickets are available for purchase at information centers, street ticket terminals and on the Orion website. Entry to the park is free.
All amusement rides have underwent a scheduled technical inspection; they are fully operational and safe for visitors. Their operation is supervised by skilled staff.
Build your own lightsaber and learn new dance pas
The Orion Park offers an entertainment program for children and their parents on the first weekend of its operation. The Todes children’s dance group will perform on the Time Square next to the Clock Waltz amusement ride on April 20 at 2:00 p.m. The dancers will give a space performance and hold a masterclass to help visitors learn some lively dance moves. At 3:00 p.m. young visitors will have demonstration construction classes called the Bridges of the World and the Experts in Circuit Design. They will start at 3:00 p.m. on the Records Square next to the Rescue School amusement ride. The masterclass participants will get all materials on site. The Fairy Tale Theater will hold a fun disco for the youngest visitors.

On April 21, visitors will also be able to make a lightsaber. They will learn how to make an improvised lightsaber of a Jedi Knight. All participants will be able to take the saber with them. The lesson will begin at 1:00 p.m. on the Records Square next to the Rescue School. At 3:00 p.m., a children’s masterclass on board games called the Igroteka will take place there.
Visit the Moon Express or the Astrodrome
To go on a ride, buy a ticket at any of the park several ticket offices or on its official website. The website contains details about prices, promotions, discounts and the Orion programs.
Starting from April 18, visitors will be able to enjoy five amusement rides, including the Astrodrome, a futuristic school to pilot a spaceship, the Moon Express to fly to the Moon and back, and the Tornado, a chair swing ride. The Clock Waltz, an amusement ride to indulge in fantasies while riding, and the Aerotaxi, a children’s carousel with seats in the shape of small airplanes, are also to be reopened.
All year round the park offers all-season amusement rides called the Circular Panorama Cinema, the House of Fears and the Rescue School, as well as the Fairy Tale Theater interactive platform. The Circular Panorama Cinema is a cinema amusement ride that shows panoramic Soviet films and modern digital films. The Fairy Tale Theater gives performances often involving their young public. During the performances, children are invited to act along with the performers.
The House of Fears offers visitors to walk through the corridors of an abandoned house, fight their fears and imprison them at the bottom of a well. The Rescue School makes young visitors real superheroes who can control a space shuttle and deal with dangers.



The Orion Park is located in the southern part of VDNKh (from the side of 1st Ostankinskaya Street). It is a modern themed space offering comfortable family recreation. In addition to amusement rides, there are 10 cafes and restaurants, three playgrounds, a visitor information center and a souvenir shop.
