Convenient trip: Solntsevo and Vidnoye to be linked by a new motorway

Flyovers and exits

Construction of the new Solntsevo-Butovo-Vidnoye Road between  Kievskoye and Kaluzhskoye motorways was launched last November. The new road will link two city districts and the suburban town of Vidnoye. It will also be connected to the administrative-and-business centre near Kommunarka and Vnukovo Airport. The new section will redistribute the traffic and reduce the load on the radial motorways as they approach the Moscow Ring Road.

The section from Kievskoye to Kaluzhskoye motorways will have ten lanes: three mainline lanes in each direction and two side lanes with sharrows.

In addition, the plan provides for an access road to the Salaryevo transit hub and three underpasses. Twelve sound walls will be installed for nearby residential buildings.

The central section of the Solntsevo-Butovo-Vidnoye Road will be reserved for fast public transport that may be launched later. The city is still deciding what type of rapid transit this will be.

The new motorway will save residents of the Troitsky and Novomoskovksy administrative areas  time. The Salaryevo metro station will acquire new access. Cars will also have an alternative option for approaching this station. Thus, a resident of Vatutinki can drive to the Salaryevo transit hub via Kievskoye Motorway, for 35 km. The trip via Kaluzhskoye Motorway and the new road will be much shorter – about 19.5 km.

Points of attraction

The Solntsevo-Butovo-Vidnoye Road will service the administrative-and-business centre near the village of Kommunarka. In the future it will become one of the key growth points in the Troitsky and Novomoskovksy administrative areas. The centre will be established in the village of Sosenskoye (seven km from the Moscow Ring Road between Kaluzhskoye Motorway and Kommunarka to the south of the village of Gazoprovod and the east of Sosenki).

The centre’s construction is a major city project. A full-scale city environment with varied infrastructure will be built on the new territories. The scale of the project is comparable to that of the Moskva-City Business Centre.

The new centre will have two clusters: administrative-and-business and education. The latter will house a National University of Science and Technology (MISiS) campus. The plan includes academic buildings, dormitories, housing for teachers, a school and a kindergarten.

The centre will also house libraries and cultural facilities, hotels, a multi-purpose public and business hub, and administrative facilities, including the prefecture’s building. Over one million square metres of housing and about 78,000 jobs will be created.

The authorities plan to build two metro stations with a transit hub to make it convenient for residents to get to the administrative-and-business centre. The metro will be extended from the planned Novatorov Street station at the Third Interchange Circuit.

It will be possible to get to the centre on the upgraded Kaluzhskoye Motorway or the Solntsevo-Butovo-Vidnoye Road. In addition, there will be sections for fast tram lines. In all, the authorities plan to build 117 km of new roads in the new territories.
