At the Luzhniki venue, everyone to take a virtual bike ride around VDNKh.

On August 1-September 10, the Luzhniki Olympic Complex, a venue of the Moscow Urban Forum (MUF) will open the Moscow Digital Technology pavilion to present the Moscow Digital Twin project, which is a pivotal IT solution for the metropolitan management system. In particular, visitors will be offered to explore a 3D model of the Ostankino district and take a virtual bike ride around VDNKh — these areas were chosen as a good example to demonstrate the platform’s functions.

“The interactive route around VDNKh was developed specifically for the Moscow Urban Forum. Guests will discover iconic places of the country’s main exhibition, see the restored pavilions and learn about the city’s digital ecosystem in parallel. Also, the platform can be explored on the example of one of the city districts. Its demo version features several dynamic data layers; when switched, the display will visualize the terrain with buildings, reservoirs and green spots,” says Natalya Sergunina, Deputy Moscow Mayor.

The Moscow Digital Twin is based on an exact VR three-dimensional copy of the capital and enables decision-making in urban planning, security, transport, etc., being a single city management platform. More than 12 million aerial and terrestrial images taken from different angles were used to create the photogrammetry model.

The platform is actively employed, in particular, in design as it is possible to assess how a building will fit into the architectural landscape and how it will affect infrastructure even before construction. It also helps to estimate transport accessibility, develop districts in a reasonable and functional manner, and so on.

Over the past year alone, the Moscow Digital Twin won the Grand Prix of the first national Smart City Awards, the ComNews Awards. The Best Digital Economy Solutions as the best solution in the field of digital twins in addition to the national Digital Heights Award in the Best IT Solution for the Smart City category.

The Moscow Digital Technology pavilion will also offer free master classes and panel discussions on topics related to the use of technology in megacities, highlighting projects of the capital’s digital ecosystem and other cutting-edge solutions for culture, tourism, utilities, education, etc. Such innovations are introduced under the national program for the Digital Economy of the Russian Federation and the regional Digital Public Administration project.

The Moscow Urban Forum is held for the twelfth time. This year, it will be held on August 1-September 10 at four city venues, such as Zaryadye Park, the Luzhniki Olympic Complex, the Manege Central Exhibition Hall, and Gostiny Dvor. Guests will be able to listen to lectures on art, fashion and multiple urban projects, watch movies and performances, or take part in dance workshops or sports competitions.
