Interactive exhibitions, discussions and marathons: this year’s MUF program

From August 1 through September 10, the capital will host the Moscow Urban Forum 2023 to be held at four venues for the first time ever; these include the Zaryadye Park, Luzhniki Olympic Complex, the Manege Central Exhibition Hall, and Gostiny Dvor. Read further to learn about the most extraordinary event in the forum’s history.
Workout marathon and gastro fest in Luzhniki
The Luzhniki Olympic Complex will have more than 30 themed areas devoted to the city’s achievements and future development, the exposition covering about 40,000 m2 to be accessible August 1 through September 10
for visitors to enjoy multiple musical performances, lectures, and master classes. They will also be able to take a virtual tour around the capital, learn about Moscow Digital Twin, fish, enjoy a gastro fest, visit an extreme sports park or run a half-marathon.
From August 4 until September 8, Luzhniki will host a workout marathon, with sessions to be led by famous athletes, each of them focusing on a certain type of fitness activities, such as stretching, barre, cycling, etc. Everyone is welcome!

Education and health care in Gostiny Dvor
The Gostiny Dvor will also be one of the MUF venues for guests to learn how to take care of their health, visit a career management office or the Museum of Bad Habits. They can also learn metaskills for a human being of the future and, using an old age simulator, understand which challenges seniors face.
It will also host the Urban Health Congress, All-Russian Forum of Secondary Professional Education and the 5th Forum of Regional Socially-Oriented Innovation.
On August 2-3, at the Urban Health Congress entrepreneurs, architects and doctors will talk about how a healthy urban environment affects the life of Muscovites and which exciting projects are expected or underway in this respect.
On August 17-18, the All-Russian Forum of Secondary Professional Education will take place in the Gostiny Dvor as part of the Moscow Urban Forum to discuss significance of secondary professional education for the country’s economy, regional best practices, a profile and skills of modern teachers and mentors, students’ motivation as well as future digital and educational technology.
The main event is the 5th anniversary Forum of Regional Socially-Oriented Innovation, the largest discussion venue, to run on September 5-8. Its business program will highlight the best practices used to achieve high living standards.
The Moscow Urban Forum is expected to be the largest event in the second half of the summer as for six weeks experts and residents will discuss urbanism trends and share ideas on how to make cities even more comfortable. The forum’s first edition took place in December 2011; it used to gather architects, authorities, business communities and urbanists only, whereas today it is mainly oriented on residents who will enjoy lots of vibrant events.

VR amusements, a movie night and training sessions with stars in Zaryadye
On August 4-September 10, Zaryadye will offer lectures and master classes on urbanism, architecture, arts, media business, economics, and city communities. The sports program covers a sightseeing race around the park, morning yoga and fitness classes on the River Overlook Footbridge and under the glass cover of the Zaryadye Hall,
as well as shows by popular Russian singers and performers. The Movie Night campaign will feature a film concert called The Extraordinary Miracle to commemorate the 90th anniversary of director Mark Zakharov. The Northern Tunnel exhibition center will offer a lounge area and a photo exhibition focused on street culture, in addition to DJing and break dance master classes.
Meanwhile the Zaryadye Concert Hall will turn into a seamless exhibition space called The City for Everyone to highlight 10 megaprojects mirroring Moscow’s urban development achievements and plans for the coming years. The stands and installations will spotlight major metropolitan projects that have been implemented over the past 10 years. For example, visitors will be able to learn about the reconstruction of the Southern and Northern River Stations, gentrification of former industrial neighborhoods and housing growth.
Part of the exposition includes interactive VR amusements and simulators for users to trace how sports infrastructure has been evolving in Moscow.
In addition, on September 4, the venue will host an awards ceremony and screening of videos created by winners of the Cultural Code. Moscow contest.

The present and future of Moscow transport in Manege
From August 16 through September 10, the Manege Central Exhibition Hall will present an interactive exhibition called The Manege Station, dedicated to achievements of Moscow transport;
visitors will see Ivolga 3.0 and Moscow-2020 trains in full size or the largest hologram in Russia displayed on a diode screen as high as a nine-story building.
An amusement will be arranged for guests as they will be able to move between the venues on scale replicas of metro and MCD cars; the exposition will also feature a full-size driver’s cab simulator.
Other curiosities include large-scale models of the D5 tunnel under construction and the future Rizhsky in-city terminal, or a bright installation with the metro timeline of 2011–2023. At the stand dedicated to major road projects, visitors will be able to take part in an interactive game with cars moving on the map and find out how fast they can move around the city through the Moscow High-Speed Diameter.
Some vibrant locations with interactive installations will be devoted to the Moscow Central Circle, Moscow Central Diameters and the Big Circle Line for visitors to learn a lot about the stations and adjacent buildings.
There will also be stands of river transport, the Moskvich plant and Moscow Transport Museum, in addition to a family leisure center and a spacious food court. Moreover, the exhibition will feature a lecture room where urbanists, actors, TV presenters, environmental activists and other famous figures will give absorbing talks about transport and traffic management.
