Creative and innovative companies from Moscow and Bangkok partner up
Sixty Thailand-based organizations are interested in relations with public authorities, textile industry, cinema and animation companies.

Creative industry and high-tech companies from Moscow joined a business mission during the Bangkok Design Week 2023. The Design Week brought together about 60,000 visitors, 90 partners, and 400 events spread over 9 districts in the Thai capital.

As a result, the Bangkok administration signed a Creative Industries Partnership Agreement with Moscow.

“Mutual interest between Moscow and Thailand’s creative industries is growing fast. At the Bangkok Design Week, Moscow offered creative innovation products made by our businesses. Entrepreneurs from Moscow ran education events and fruitful negotiations with local authorities and businesses. After the visit, 60 Thailand-based companies are now considering further partnerships with Moscow in the areas of public administration, textile industry, cinema and animation,” said Alexei Fursin, Head of Moscow Department of Entrepreneurship and Innovative Development.

Seventeen Moscow companies specializing in motion pictures and animation, consumer industry and technology, took part in Bangkok Design Week 2023.

In order to figure out an effective partnership strategy, Russian content creators have met local cinema association representatives, producers, distributors, content buyers, and VOD platform (content viewing service) owners in the offices of leading associations, companies and public authorities. One of them is an animation company from Moscow, a Russian market leader with some experience abroad. Thailand was represented by a CGI studio, a TV broadcasting company, a leading movie distributor network, one of the largest VOD platforms in the country and other key market players.

Increasing the Moscow export share is as vital. Five companies from Moscow presented their products and technologies as part of the business mission. One among them is a system capable of creating a touch area of unlimited size on any surface. The technology can be used in lots of industries, from interactive street ads to sensory walls in large institutions that help clients get all the information they need without human assistance.

In addition, brands that produce spot compression apparel for professional and amateur athletes, men’s suits from carbon fibers, LED textiles and smart glass electronics for vehicles and architectural use also presented their products. Malaysia has already expressed the desire to purchase the blackout glass technology.

Moscow Export Center (MEC) established by the Moscow Department of Entrepreneurship and Innovative Development helps companies reach foreign markets. The range of support measures offered by MEC includes participation in business missions. In particular, on July 11–13, businesses will get a chance to present their products at the first ever MEC business mission in Bangkok. Moscow is financing the entire business program, including setting up negotiations, translator services and venue rent. Applications are open on MEC website until May 19.

What is Bangkok Design Week?

The Bangkok Design Week has been held for the fifth time this year in order to strengthen international business relations in the creative industry field, facilitate cultural exchange and present industrial products for further sale. This year, they were also focused on looking for efficient solution for municipal resources control and management, solutions for environmental and social inequality issues.

Companies from Moscow participated in the business mission to Bangkok under the banner of the Moscow Department of Entrepreneurship and Innovative Development’s Creative Industries Agency (CIA). The Agency cooperated with the Thailand Creative and Design Center, a resource center that helps creative industry workers put their ideas into practice.

CIA’s first major venture to the Asian market with a tailor-made program took place at the Chiang Mai Design Week in December 2022. About 130,000 people visited it. The total number of online views exceeded 2 million. 585 partner from 11 provinces joined the Chiang Mai Design Week. There were over 223 events at 65 venues in 5 city districts.
