A Moscow manufacturer of car components and a plant in Tula region concluded an agreement under which a Moscow-based plant will produce body parts for Chinese crossovers. The enterprise was built with city’s support within a large-scale investment project.
“Under the agreement, the Moscow-based enterprise will manufacture 106 various body parts for popular Chinese crossovers. It will produce 5–6.5 million parts annually. The project will become more than 50 per cent local due to vehicle assembly in Tula region in 2023. Therefore, thanks to the agreement, Alpha Automotive Technologies will become a leading Russian partner of the Tula plant manufacturing body parts,” says Vladimir Yefimov, Deputy Moscow Mayor for Economic Policy and Property and Land Relations.
The enterprise opened in the south of Moscow in December 2022. It can manufacture up to 12 million body parts for cars and commercial vehicles per year.
“Car component production facilities occupy 36,600 square meters. Moscow leased the company a parcel with the area of 3.25 hectares in Biryulyovo Zapadnoye district for construction as part of a large-scale investment project. Investments into the facility construction have exceeded 2.9 billion rubles. The enterprise not only helps make production of foreign cars local but also improves domestic engineering technologies and creates jobs for high-skilled professionals,” says Vladislav Ovchinsky, Head of the Moscow Department of Investment and Industrial Policy.
This enterprise manufactures 150 types of pressed body parts for the assembly of over 250,000 cars annually. They include front and structural elements: top, hood, fenders, doors, load-bearing components, floor panels, longerons, and side columns.
According to Zorigto Sakhanov, Director General of the company, completing the project in Russia will become a strategic step and help promote products in Russia and neighboring countries. Thus, the company contributes to better import substitution and technologically sovereign domestic car manufacturing.
