Free Wi-Fi access has been provided on 4,000 buses, trams and trolleybuses that serve 800 Moscow routes daily. There have been more than one million online connections already.

By late 2016, free Wi-Fi will be available on the entire public transit system.

“The new service is gaining popularity with passengers. Since Mosgortrans_Free network was launched in February, 250,000 unique users have registered. The number of Internet connections has exceeded one million. We are happy to offer a truly up-to-date service that makes a trip by public transit even more convenient,” Mosgortrans General Director Yevgeny Mikhailov noted.

The availability of Wi-Fi is indicated by stickers inside the vehicle. To register online, authentication via sms is required. This procedure is performed only once, further connections are automatic. The Wi-Fi network is compatible with all types of customer devices – smartphones, tablet PCs or laptops.

Wi-Fi access is also provided at 450 public transit stops near metro stations, railway platforms and bus terminals. The name of the network is Mosgortrans_Free.
