A number of programs and projects will be implemented there. In particular, they’re making improvements to Yauza park and finishing construction of the main span of Moscow High-Speed Diameter.

The lives of Otradnoye, Severnoye and Yuzhnoye Medvedkovo residents became cozier and more convenient thanks to My District program. Healthcare institutions and children’s art schools have been renovated there; currently, Yauza park is getting improvements, while construction of the main span of Moscow High-Speed Diameter is nearing conclusion. Sergei Sobyanin told about this in his blog.

“The three neighborhoods in the Moscow northeast are home to 400,000 Muscovites. Our objective is to make their lives even better. In order to achieve that, we’re implementing a number of programs and projects in Otradnoye, Severnoye and Yuzhnoye Medvedkovo,” the Moscow Mayor wrote.

New residential houses and jobs

Yuzhnoye Medvedkovo was one of the first districts to start implementing the renovation program. In June 2018, residents of some five-storey apartment blocks got new housing at 26 Dezhnyova Proyezd and 1/2 Polyarnaya Street. Right now, another six new apartment blocks are welcoming their new residents. Almost 4,000 people living in 18 houses will have to be relocated.

In the nearest future, Otradnoye is slated to become one of the industrial renovation hubs. The former Altufyevskoye Motorway industrial area is going to be reorganized.

“The project is ambitious and divided into multiple stages. A comprehensive development project has already been signed for one of them. The investor will build 721,000 square meters of real estate on 29 hectares of land that is now mainly used for storage. Nearly half of those are going to be industrial and innovation manufacturing facilities. In addition, offices, retail shops, social facilities and 251,000 square meters of residential estate are going to be built,” Mr. Sobyanin declared.

RUB 45.5 billion will be invested in the project. That will create nearly 8,000 new jobs, mostly for residents of Otradnoye and the neighboring areas. A comfortable urban environment will expand to cover the former industrial area.

Yauza and Severnaya Medveditsa parks

One of the largest high-quality public spaces is being developed in the northeast, namely the Yauza park. The green recreational route, about 20 kilometers long, will span the distance from the Moscow Ring Road to Rostokino Aqueduct, with egresses to Losiny Ostrov, Main Botanical Garden, Sokolniki and VDNKh.

“The project is very expansive, so we’re doing it in stages, step by step, straightening out the riverbanks and the surrounding grounds. We have already taken care of the Yauza river floodplains along Zapovednaya Street, the Chermyanka river floodplains from Musorgsky Street to Dezhnyov Proyezd and along Yurlovsky Proyezd to Molodtsova Street. As well as the grounds that run along Lazorevy, Chukotsky and Tenisty proyezds,” the Moscow Mayor pointed out.

Yauza park now has comfortable pedestrian routes, bike paths and water recreation areas. Observation platforms, children’s playgrounds and sports areas have all been set up. On top of that, the Yauza environment center opened in the park. It’s focused on jobs of the future in the environmental field.

This year, they’re rehabilitating areas of the Yauza floodplains along Severodvinskaya Street from Shirokaya to Yeniseyskaya Street.

Severnaya Medveditsa park along Shokalsky Proyezd has also been landscaped. A great public space has been set up in the area between Bestuzhevykh, Pestelya and Dekabristov streets. A stadium used by multiple schools now stands in Yasny Proyezd. Yasny and Medvedkovsky ponds have been rehabilitated.

Right now, the area within Sukhonskaya and Molodtsova streets, Shokalskogo and Dezhnyova proyezds is being landscaped at the residents’ request.

Polyclinics and arts schools

Public infrastructure in those areas is also developing fast. Branch No. 1 of Municipal Children’s Polyclinic No.110 at 3 Khachaturyana Street opened after a comprehensive renovation. Municipal Polyclinic No.107 (24 Dekabristov Street) and its branch No.4 (6a Pestelya Street) are under renovation  expected to be finished next year. A children’s polyclinic able to accommodate 320 visitors in a shift is being built on Polyarnaya Street. It will be commissioned before the year end.

A new facility able to accommodate 250 visitors in a shift will also be built for Children’s Polyclinic No.110 (property 39, Dekabristov Street). The old facility will get a total renovation according to the new Moscow standard.

  1. Grechaninov Children’s Music School on Severny Boulevard got a capital renovation. Now young musicians can play in total comfort. The Fenix Children’s Arts School and Vesna A. Ponomaryov Children’s Music Choir School have also been renovated.

Library No. 54 (11 Shirokaya Street), Library No. 56 (34a Altufyevskoye Motorway) and Tovarishch Club (12 Zaryovy Proyezd) all got make-overs.

Medvedkovo Arena now has a modern soccer field and quality infrastructure. They have also reconstructed another soccer stadium in Yurlovsky Proyezd.

Medvedkovo swimming pool on Zapovednaya Street is currently getting a complete overhaul.

My Documents public services center reopened on Polyarnaya Street after an overhaul. Now its visitors, Yuzhnoye Medvedkovo residents, find it even more convenient to use. A kindergarten for 300 kids is expected to be built on the same Polyarnaya street before the year end.

“The festival venue and the inter-region fair in Khachaturian park are extremely popular. Another festival venue at the intersection of Molodtsova and Sukhonskaya streets is going to open this year,” the Moscow Mayor revealed.

The Mesto Vstrechi Baikonur public center will open on Dekabristov Street, in the reconstructed former movie theater. It will have a fitness gym, family cafes and restaurants, an open-air movie theater at the veranda, culture and recreation facilities and useful services.

Overpass and Moscow High-Speed Diameter

Otradnoye, Severnoye and Yuzhnoye Medvedkovo districts border on the Moscow Ring Road. Multiple large projects to correct the related transport issues are currently being implemented. For example, Degunino station of the 1st Moscow Central Diameter opened recently.

“Commissioning two important road facilities is planned for September. The overpass junction of MKAD and Ostashkovskoye Motorway is going to be opened after reconstruction. It will improve throughput of the northeastern part of MKAD, Ostashkovskoye Motorway and Ostashkovskaya Street, while reducing strain on the adjacent roads,” Mr. Sobyanin noted.

Design Concept

The main section of the Moscow High-Speed Diameter will be finished soon, creating many new fast and convenient routes for traveling around the city.

“Fast development of Otradnoye, Severnoye and Yuzhnoye Medvedkovo areas will improve the quality of life for hundreds of thousands Muscovites,” concluded the Moscow Mayor.
