Sergei Sobyanin spoke about the development of the capital's transport during the business session of the Moscow Urban Forum (MUF), which is taking place in Zaryadye Park.
“Moscow is the largest transport hub. It serves most of traffic flows, such as railway, aviation and road transportation. And bearing a huge load as a metropolis, we also perform the function of the country’s central transport hub. And every day the life of every Muscovite in addition to the country’s logistics — in many respects — depends on our development, on the development of transport in Moscow. A few years ago, we set the goal of creating a new transport framework for our city. The goal is incredible, insurmountable and unsolvable by its scale. But we set this goal and we’ve reached it. Moscow has created a new road framework, indeed,” said Moscow Mayor.
The Moscow agglomeration is one of the largest in the world as it is home to approximately 30 million people, counting the surrounding regions. That is why the modernization of Moscow’s transport and the Central Transport Hub as a whole is said to be a key development track for the city.
Sergei Sobyanin also spoke about the intention to build new metro lines and stations in addition to more Moscow Central Diameters (MCDs) and announced completion of the project for a new transport framework in the metropolitan agglomeration.
Despite the challenges that the country and the city are facing today, it is decided to still go on with all the development programs, so Moscow will continue to successfully compete with the world’s best megacities, Sergei Sobyanin said.
