In 2027–2029, simultaneously with completing the sections currently being built, design work will be performed for Moscow metro development plans stretching out to 2035.

Reliable, safe and effective urban transport with high level of service is going to continue expanding in Moscow in 2027–2029, with RUB 4 trillion earmarked in the budget for that purpose, Sergei Sobyanin announces on his Max channel. RUB 1.3 trillion will be allocated in 2027.

Since 2011, Moscow has commissioned over 270 kilometres of lines, 130 new stations, and 14 depots of the Moscow metro and the Moscow Central Circle. In recent years, Moscow has been the confident leader of the innovation policy quality index in Europe. This year, metro construction rate has reached its five years’ peak.

“23 stations, over 50 kilometres of lines, and three train depots are to be commissioned in three years. By 2029, the total distance covered by metro lines is projected to grow two-fold compared to 2011,” shares the Moscow Mayor.

Three metro lines are under construction now at once: Troitskaya (second stage), Rublyovo-Arkhangelskaya, and Biryulyovskaya. New stations are also being added to existing radii.

The first section of the new Rublyovo-Arkhangelskaya line, the 17th line of the Moscow metro, opened for passengers this September. The five-stations long section covering the span from Delovoy Tsentr to Bulvar Generala Karbysheva station has improved connectivity for 550,000 residents of the surrounding areas. The next section with another five new stations, from Bulvar Generala Karbysheva to Novorizhskaya station, is projected to be commissioned in 2027.

Biryulyovskaya line is going to be commissioned in stages: the section stretching from ZIL to Kuryanovo station is to be completed in 2028, the section from Kuryanovo to Biryulyovo — in 2029. For the first time ever, metro will come to Biryulyovo Zapadnoye and Biryulyovo Vostochoye districts.

The construction of Troitskaya line’s southern section, running along the Kaluzhskoye Motorway from Kommunarka to Troitsk. and spanning six stations, will continue. The second stage of Troitskaya line construction is to be completed in 2029 by opening Golyanovo station of Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya line and Yuzhny Port station of Lyublinsko-Dmitrovskaya line.

“All new metro stations will be comfortably integrated into the existing transport infrastructure, with convenient pedestrian crossings and surface transport stops close by, to improve accessibility for the locals,” adds Sergei Sobyanin.

Only modern and high-tech trains purchased under contracts are going to course the new lines, making trips more comfortable for passengers. New metro stations are built with an option to switch to unmanned trains in the future.

In 2027–2029, simultaneously with completing the sections currently being built, design work will be performed for Moscow metro development plans stretching out to 2035. They include expanding the metro network in Troitsky and Novomoskovsky Administrative Districts, continuing the existing radii to the neighbouring Moscow Region cities, and a number of other projects.

The Central Transport Hub development program will make train trips more convenient and affordable for over 30 million people in 11 Russian regions.

Moscow is extensively involved in the construction of the Moscow — St. Petersburg high speed train line, the first line in a future network projected to also cover other regions of the country.
