Sergei Sobyanin: unique spinal cord transplant performed in Moscow

Russia’s first spinal cord transplant operation was performed at the N.V. Sklifosovsky Research Institute for Emergency Medicine, Sergei Sobyanin shares on his Max channel.
“The unique surgical procedure, which lasted 12 hours, was performed at the Sklifosovsky Research Institute for Emergency Medicine. The patient, who was at risk of complete loss of mobility, now has a chance of recovery. He is currently feeling well,” the Moscow Mayor shares.

The operation is a continuation of Moscow’s upper-limb transplantation project.
“Moscow healthcare is actively engaged in international cooperation, adopting advanced global practices and introducing modern technologies. This operation is one example of such cooperation, involving Chinese colleagues and the transfer of medical technologies,” Sergei Sobyanin says.
