Sergei Sobyanin: Improvement works completed near the Central Moscow Hippodrome
Comprehensive improvement works have been completed in the area around the Central Moscow Hippodrome, Sergei Sobyanin shares on his Max channel.
“Work was carried out on Begovaya Street and Begovaya Alley, Skakovaya Street and Skakovaya Alley, and Verkhnyaya Street. A total of 13.9 hectares were improved. It was important for us not only to create a modern space but also to preserve the district’s historic character,” the Moscow Mayor writes.

An accessible, safe and functional environment has been created near residential buildings. New spaces for recreation, sports and family leisure have appeared there, including a cozy public garden with paths, benches, children’s playgrounds and sports grounds was created near 3 Begovaya Alley. A recreation area with swings and benches was created near 13, Building 1 Skakovaya Street. Near the House of Aviators at 34 Begovaya Street, the hockey rink was renovated, areas for panna football and street workout were provided and two children’s playgrounds were equipped.
“But, of course, the focal point of the entire area is the Central Moscow Hippodrome. The public garden near the main building was decorated with art installations, landscape and architectural lighting, while the pavements were renovated and cast-iron lamps and comfortable benches in a classic park style were installed,” Sergei Sobyanin adds.

In five months, a new road network was created on the Leningradsky Prospekt side to make the hippodrome more accessible. The 1.7-kilometer route runs along the railway tracks of the Smolensk direction from the interchange with the Third Ring Road (TRR) to Leningradsky Prospekt.
In addition, the project included the construction of Planned Passage No. 1808 from the TRR to the intersection with Nizhnyaya Street, the reconstruction of Nizhnyaya Street, the construction of cycle paths and pavements, the installation of new streetlights and improvements to the surrounding area.
As a result, three districts — Begovoy, Presnensky and Tverskoy — have become more accessible by transport.
