In January — July Moscow Metro launched 10 themed trains

From January through July 2026, Moscow’s transport offered more than 200 passenger-oriented events, including festivities for International Women’s Day and Victory Day, Moscow Transport Day, three bicycle festivals, a spring motorcycle rally, Moscow Electric Transport Festival, in addition to vintage cars parades and specially highlighted trains that marked the Moscow Metro’s anniversary.

The spring cycling festival gathered over 77,000 participants and attendees to be recorded in the Russian Book of Records, as a result.

The Moscow Matryoshka, a grandiose media installation placed in Zaryadye Park, showcased 25 theme-specific shows and stories, in particular the original fairy tale Matryoshka: The Secret of the Childhood Tree, which was targeted specifically on young audiences, and the family-oriented Code of Russia educational program.

Ten themed trains have been launched in the Moscow Metro over the past seven months for passengers to have enjoyed trains designed to commemorate the Chinese New Year holiday, the 250 th anniversary of Bolshoi Theater, the 111 th anniversary of the Gorky Film Studio, the 81 st anniversary of the Great Victory, Vologda Region, and International Children’s Day. What is more, there is also a themed tram marking the 70 th anniversary of Moscow’s Sovremennik Theater.

Plans are in place to design more than 20 themed trains and host 15 major events by the end of 2026.
