Moscow has begun an important stage in the construction of Dostoevskaya station on the Circle Line — work on the inclined escalator tunnel. Sergei Sobyanin announced this on his MAX channel.

“This is an escalator tunnel connecting the underground station with the entrance hall. Specialists are working in challenging hydrogeological conditions, which is why ground-freezing technology is being used. The escalator tunnel will be more than 92 meters long,” the Moscow Mayor says.

Dostoevskaya will be the first new station on the Circle Line in more than 70 years. Construction is underway in the very heart of Moscow. The station will be located along Suvorovskaya Square, near Samotechnaya and Durova streets and Yekaterininsky Park.

Once the station opens, it will improve transport accessibility for 200,000 residents of three Moscow districts — Meshchansky, Tverskoy, and Maryina Roshcha. Prospekt Mira metro stations on the Circle and Kaluzhsko-Rizhskaya lines will be up to 20 per cent less busy.
