Sergei Sobyanin: Revamped Tsarskaya Embankment attracts over eight million visitors in one year

The renovated Tsarskaya Embankment at the Kolomenskoye Museum-Reserve opened a year ago. Since then, it has become a popular leisure destination, attracting more than eight million visits. In winter, the embankment featured one of Russia’s longest ice rinks, while it now hosts a venue for the Theater Boulevard International Open Festival, as well as sports areas and a swimming pool complex. Sergei Sobyanin shares on his MAX channel.
“Tsarskaya Embankment is an excellent example of how preserving cultural heritage can contribute to the development of urban infrastructure,” the Moscow Mayor wrote.

Specialists seamlessly integrated new pavilions, decking, and street furniture into the existing architectural ensemble, highlighting the unique character of the Kolomenskoye Museum-Reserve. Each facility along the embankment was given its own lighting design to accentuate the natural landscape and architecture.
In addition, the Falconry Yard was upgraded. Its infrastructure and museum exhibition were renovated, new spacious enclosures were built for its rare collection of birds, and a visitor center was created.
“We are still continuing to improve the area around the museum. The third stage of renovations is underway this year, with plans to upgrade the gorodki and workout areas, the children’s playground, the service yard, main pedestrian routes, and paving near the Palace of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich,” Sergei Sobyanin added.
