Sergei Sobyanin writes about the development of the capital’s cultural infrastructure

Expenditure on the development of the cultural and tourist environment and the preservation of Moscow’s cultural heritage will amount to 303.6 billion rubles in 2026.
“Moscow is the main cultural center of Russia. The city’s event calendar has long been one of the fullest in the world. Cultural institutions and parks attract a huge number of visitors and spectators. The draft budget of 2026–2028 allocates significant funds to the development of the infrastructure of theaters, museums, libraries and cultural centers and improving its parks,” wrote Sergei Sobyanin in his channel in the messenger MAX.

It is planned to allocate 104.7 billion rubles for the development and strengthening of the facilities and technical systems used by cultural institutions (construction, capital repair and maintenance and purchase of equipment) in 2026. This will make it possible to carry out major and repairs and maintenance in theaters, museums, libraries and cultural centers, and to purchase technological, lighting and sound equipment.
In 2026 upgrading work will continue on the city’s parks, including the largest ones: Gorky Park, Sokolniki Park and Kolomenskoye Museum-Reserve.
Funds are also allocated for the implementation of a large-scale project for the construction of the Russia national center. The new center, with an area of about 205,000 square meters will become a platform for demonstrating the achievements of all regions of the country. It will host exhibitions, and have a concert hall with transformable seats, a media center, a youth creative cluster, a congress center, and areas for business communication.
