Sergei Sobyanin: The renovation program is one of the largest housing redevelopment projects in the world
More than 220,000 Moscow residents have already received new apartments or are preparing to move.

The renovation program has turned eight years old. In that time, it has become one of the world’s largest housing renewal projects. Hundreds of thousands of Muscovites have received new apartments. The news was reported by Sergei Sobyanin in a post on his Telegram channel.

410 buildings have been built under the renovation program, and about 500 more are under development. More than 220,000 Moscow residents have already received new apartments or are preparing to move. Over a thousand children’s and sports grounds have also appeared in the city.

“The renovation program is not just about spacious, bright apartments in modern buildings, but also involves yard improvement, construction of social facilities, a barrier-free environment, the renewal of utility and technical systems infrastructure and the application of advanced construction technologies. It is a driver of development in the construction industry and the national economy,” the Mayor of Moscow wrote.

Almost 100 percent of the building materials used in construction under the renovation program are produced within Russia. Concrete, reinforcement bars, materials for utility and technical systems, paints and windows are supplied by more than 15 regions of Russia.

The most important thing about the renovation program is that people get housing in their neighborhood. As housewarmers like to say, it’s the same as before, only much better.
