Sergey Sobyanin: The third regular river transport route will be opened in Moscow in 2025

This year the capital will open a third regular river transport route, Novospassky — ZIL. It will connect the Danilovsky, Tagansky, Yuzhnoportovy and Zamoskvorechye Districts. The news was announced by Sergei Sobyanin on his Telegram channel.

“There will be four new berths on the route: Simonovsky, Torpedo, Derbenevskaya Embankment and Novospassky. The river transport fleet is to be replenished with 10 new electric vessels,” wrote the Mayor of Moscow.

In addition, Moscow will start the production of modern electric river vessels, which will be assembled at a new shipyard in Nagatinsky Zaton using the most advanced Russian-developed technologies.

“Revival of regular passenger transport on the Moscow River is a unique project, in global practice. This is the world’s first year-round modern electric water transportation,” added Sergei Sobyanin.

Today there are two regular river transport routes on the Moskva River, with a combined length of more than 20 kilometers: Kievsky — Fili Park and ZIL — Pechatniki. There are 21 electric vessels operating on the two routes. All of them are named after small rivers in Moscow.

The first regular route, opened in June 2023 by Russian President Vladimir Putin, connects Kievsky Railway Station with the Heart of the Capital pier near the residential complex of the same name on Shelepikhinskaya Embankment. In June last year, by a decision of Sergei Sobyanin, the route was extended to 12 kilometers, almost doubling in length. Two additional berths were added to the route: Beregovoy (on the right bank of the Moskva River, opposite the Heart of the Capital pier) and Fili Park (the new terminus of the route).

In September 2024, another berth on the first route — Krasnopresnensky Park (near the park of the same name and the Expocenter Central Exhibition Complex) was opened.

The second regular route of electric vessels (ZIL — Pechatniki), with a length of nine kilometers, was opened in September 2023. A year later, in September 2024, three new berths were put into operation: Nagatinsky, Zaton Novinki and Kolomenskaya Embankment.

As of the end of 2024, over 1.5 million passengers had used the regular routes. In the summer, city residents made about five thousand trips a day on electric boats.

The most popular point of departure was the Kievsky berth. From it, about 20 percent of passengers start their trip. A total of 18 berths are in operation: nine on the first route and nine on the second one.
