Sergei Sobyanin: The production of computers, optical equipment and electronics has more than doubled

In 2024, the volume of industrial production in Moscow grew by 17.8 percent. Sergei Sobyanin reported the news it in his blog.
“Moscow’s fast-growing industrial sector is the most important factor in ensuring the country’s technological leadership. And last year, Moscow manufacturers continued to increase their output. In 2024, the total output of the manufacturing industries increased by 17.8 percent compared to the 2023 figure. And over the last five years it has increased 2.3 times,” wrote the Mayor of Moscow.
Moscow relies on the development of innovative industries-every third enterprise is classified as a high-tech producer. Among the growth leaders are computer, optical equipment and electronics manufacturers, which increased their output by more than 2.1 times in 2024, compared to the results for 2023. Moreover, the manufacturing sector has grown more than 5.4 times in the last five years.
In addition, last year the production of notebook computers increased more than five times, the production of semiconductor devices and their parts more than doubled, the production of computers grew by a factor of 1.8, the production of sound and video boards almost doubled and the production of printed circuit boards increased by 10.2 percent.
Output volume
Moscow’s manufacturing sector includes almost 370 technology enterprises. Among them is Nex-T, a resident of the Technopolis Moscow special economic zone. The company produces displays, interactive equipment, combined software and hardware systems, and computer hardware for key areas of the economy, including education and inclusive education. Revenues and output grew 25 percent year-on-year in 2023.


RDV Technology is an enterprise producing certified Russian computer equipment. It offers over 450 product lines including servers, storage systems, minicomputers, system and monoblocks, and monitors. At the end of last year, the plant manufactured more than 125,000 devices, 12 percent higher than the results for 2023.


Force is a producer of corporate IT hardware and software. Its product portfolio includes equipment for building IT infrastructures with modern requirements in terms of security, reliability and functionality: server systems, data storage and transmission systems, and as personal data systems. Year on year, the company has been increasing production. Thus, in 2024, the Moscow production site produced 164.5 percent more equipment and components than it did in 2023.

Electrical engineering companies demonstrate good growth. In 2024, they increased production by almost nine percent, with a 5.7-fold increase in five years. Today the sector includes more than 130 enterprises, which provide jobs for some 17,000 people. Companies in this sector produce electric motors, generators, transformers, switchgear, instrumentation, household appliances and much more.
The Kuntsevo-Elektro company, one of the oldest enterprises in the sector, has been producing sockets, switches and other electrical products since 1959. Last year, the company produced more than 2.6 million units, up nearly 19 percent from 2023. The plant has also seen an increase in revenue, which indicates the high demand for its products on the market.
Ecotech is a manufacturer of high-tech spark protection and arc-fault protection devices and other electrical products. These devices prevent fires and are used in commercial buildings with a high occupancy, as well as in residential apartments and private homes.
High production growth
In 2024, Ecotech demonstrated a four-fold increase in production compared to 2023, and completed the development of and launched innovative combination devices. These combine the functions of a circuit breaker and an arc-fault protection device. The products will appear on the market as early as the second quarter of 2025.
Dvin, a manufacturer of towel dryers, last year brought eight new models to the market and increased production by 70 percent compared to 2023. The company has produced more than 100,000 electric towel dryers with multifunctional control units. There is a high demand for these product not only in the Moscow region and on the Russian market as a whole, but also in other CIS countries.
The machine-building sector, which includes more than 260 Moscow enterprises and employs more than 17,000 is not lagging behind. Over the last five years, the companies in this sectors have increased their output by a factor of 7.5.
Among the main achievements of the industry last year was the production of over 13,000 elevators, more than half of all the elevators produced in Russia during this period.
Karacharovsky Mechanical Plant (KMZ) has been manufacturing elevator and other lifting equipment for 75 years, performing all stages of the production cycle from design and manufacturing to installation and service. Since it was founded the company has manufactured more than 285,000 elevators, and in 2024 its production volume was about 3,500 systems. The plant plans to increase output by another 30 percent this year.
“On the premises of KMZ we are forming Russia’s first cluster for vertical transport and elevator construction, which will be an important step towards accelerating the development and localizing the production of this type of transport system,” wrote Sergey Sobyanin.



Innovative first aid equipment
The medical instrument and equipment sector, which includes more than 300 enterprises in the capital, is also developing. By the end of 2024, companies in this sector had increased output by 11.5 percent compared to 2023. And over the last five years, the production of medical devices has grown more than 3.4 times.



Medplant, a resident of the Technopolis Moscow SEZ, produces innovative first aid and emergency medical equipment, such as pulse oximeters and first aid kits. The company implements its own solutions for use in Russia and other CIS countries. Among the company’s breakthrough developments is a patented device for cardiopulmonary resuscitation. At the beginning of the year, the first batch of devices was put into mass production.

Another SEZ resident, Vip Camilla, manufactures absorbent underwear for adults at the Rudnevo site. In 2024, the company launched the production of disposable absorbent diapers, and as a result its production volume was five times that of the previous year.

New products and an extended product range
Over the past five years, companies in the food industry have also increased their production, by a factor of 1.8 times. In 2024 alone, the output of meat products increased by 8.1 percent, that of fish products increased by more than 1.5 times, that of dairy products increased by 6.2 percent, and that of bakery and flour-based confectionery products increased by 4.2 percent.
Elitgroup Invest, a Moscow-based meat processing company, produces meat products from pork, beef and poultry in Moscow. With the city’s support, in 2024 the company’s output increased by more than 30 percent and its product range increased by more than 30 items. The new products include game sausage, doktorskaya sausage, boiled and smoked sausages, roasted chicken fillet and other types of meat products.

Another Moscow plant, Karat, produces processed cheese, creamy and grainy cottage cheeses and other dairy products that have been popular throughout the country for almost 100 years. Last year, the company shipped about 180 million units to customers and almost doubled its production of soft cheeses.


The company Other Bread produces gluten-free Belgian waffles and bread in Moscow, which are suitable for consumers with special diets. In 2024, the company produced more than 286,000 units, a 20 percent increase over its 2023 results.

The health foods producer Nuttis has significantly increased its production of “clean” products in 2024. It produced almost twice as many nutrition bars and almost a third more nut paste in 2024 than it did in 2023-more than 5.2 million bars in 14 different flavors and more than 668,000 jars of paste.
In addition, beverage output is growing dynamically, up nearly 11 percent last year.
In 2024, the Ochakovo plant expanded its drinks line with 10 new products. For example, it introduced bilberry, blueberry and pomegranate flavored lemonades. The company’s products are supplied to 60 regions of Russia and more than 30 foreign countries, including other CIS countries, China, United Arab Emirates.
Off-the-shelf collections and custom tailoring
Garment production increased significantly in 2024, by 22.5 percent, and was more than 58 times higher than in 2019. Moreover, last year the output of knitted and crocheted clothing increased by 26.9 percent, and that of fur clothing by 9.3 percent. In addition, the production of footwear in Moscow increased by 9.4 percent.


For example, the company Orthomoda produces adaptive clothing and orthopedic footwear, both off-the-shelf and custom-made, on the Pechatniki site of the Moscow SEZ. Every year about 25,000 persons with disabilities receive services and goods from a resident of Moscow’s special economic zone.

Bolshevichka, one of Russia’s oldest garment manufacturers, produced about 29,000 units in 2024. The factory produces classic men’s and women’s suits, pants, jackets and outerwear. In addition to its off-the-shelf collections, the factory creates custom-made products for individual orders-in 2024, these accounted for 10 percent of the total output. Sales revenue increased by 2.2 percent over last year’s results.
Basque is a producer of clothing and equipment for expeditions, extreme sports, tourism and outdoor activities, as well as for urban wear. With the support of the capital, the enterprise produces jackets, coats, overalls, pants, sweatshirts, T-shirts and other products, including clothes for children. The company also produces high-tech and knowledge-intensive products.

Last year its production of clothing and equipment increased by 17 percent, and for the new season the brand presented about 50 new products and a number of updated versions of its best-selling models. Its range currently includes more than 500 models.
The Moscow manufacturer of designer print clothing and accessories Pink Bus increased its output by one and a half times in 2024, producing over 200,000 units. In addition, it created and launched more than 100 modern print designs last year.
The growth of industrial production testifies to the high efficiency of the measures to support industry which the capital has been developing and improving for many years. This makes it easier for companies to find sites for the location and modernization of production facilities, to attract additional investment, to seek partners within the country and to enter export markets.
