The Moscow Metro app is eight years old. With its advent, passenger service was taken to a new level. Sergei Sobyanin announced the news via his telegram channel.

“In the app, you can top up your Troika card, plan convenient routes and filter the options by travel time and the number of changes. There is also unique function — an estimate of how full each carriage in the next train is", — said the Mayor of Moscow.

In their user account, users have access to a virtual Troika card, and also access to a convenient and secure option for paying fares — biometric identification. Since 2023, they have been able to link a Moscow Resident’s card to their user account, and in 2024 they were able to do the same thing for their bank card.

In addition, the app allows users to purchase tickets for intercity and international buses and to subscribe to the MultiTransport option to get the best prices for all types of transport (including taxis and the scooters and bicycle rental schemes).

“Following requests from passengers, we have added a 14-day pause function for annual passes. And these are just the basic functions. The popularity of the app is proved by the fact that since its launch it has been downloaded more than 16 million times," emphasized the Mayor of Moscow.
