Sergei Sobyanin on construction of Moscow Metro Rublyovo-Arkhangelskaya line

The excavation of the left main line tunnel on the section from the Narodnoye Opolcheniye station to the Bulvar Generala Karbysheva station of the Moscow Metro Rublyovo-Arkhangelskaya line has been completed.
“We are actively working to build the Rublyovo-Arkhangelskaya line (Phase 1). The project is already 34 per cent complete, more than a third. We are completing the excavation of one of the tunnels,” says Sergei Sobyanin.
The Natali tunnel-boring machine (TBM) excavated the tunnel in approximately six months, starting work on May 15, 2024. The Narodnoye Opolcheniye station is 22 meters below ground level, its deepest point is 24 meters, and it is 12 meters deep at the Bulvar Generala Karbysheva exit.
The new Moscow Metro Rublyovo-Arkhangelskaya line is 27.6 kilometers long with 12 stations, running from the Moscow-City International Business Center (MIBC) to Rublyovo-Arkhangelskaya, beyond the Moscow Ring Road and further to Krasnogorsk. It can be used to transfer to the Moscow Central Circle (MCC), the Solntsevskaya, Filyovskaya and Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya lines, and the Big Circle Line (BCL) of the Moscow Metro.
The line will be initially serviced by the Solntsevo electric train depot. The Ilyinskoye electric train depot is also to be built.
The Rublyovo-Arkhangelskaya line is expected to be used by about 250,000 passengers per day in the first years of its operation. Passengers will be transported by modern Russian-made trains.
“The opening of the Rublyovo-Arkhangelskaya line will improve transport services for about a million current and future residents of seven Moscow districts. In the first years of its operation, the line is expected to be used by about 250,000 passengers per day. The congestion of the Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya and Tagansko-Krasnopresnenskaya lines and adjacent roads will be relieved. Work is underway, involving the construction of tunnels between stations. Currently, three tunnel boring machines are operating on the line, including a large-diameter shield (10 meters). We plan to complete the construction of all the main line tunnels from Shelepikha to Lipovaya Roshcha in 2026,” the Moscow Mayor writes on his Telegram channel.

The first two stations of the future line, Delovoy Tsentr and Shelepikha, opened in 2018 as part of the Moscow Metro Big Circle Line.
In 2021, construction work started on the Rublyovo-Arkhangelskaya line (Phase 1 and Phase 2), from Shelepikha to Lipovaya Roshcha, 12.7 kilometers long, with six new stations:
— Zvenigorodskaya station, which is next to the intersection of Shenogina Street, Shelepikhinskoye Motorway and 1st Silikatny Proyezd;
— Narodnoye Opolcheniye station, which is a transfer to the BCL station of the same name along Demyana Bednogo Street at the intersection with Marshala Zhukova Prospekt;
— Bulvar Generala Karbysheva station, which is parallel to Marshala Tukhachevskogo Street at the intersection with Generala Karbysheva Boulevard;
— Serebryany Bor station, which is along Parshina Street near its intersection with Zhivopisnaya Street;
— Strogino station, which is a transfer to the station of the same name on the Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya line along Stroginsky Boulevard;
— Lipovaya Roshcha station, which is in the Moscow Region along the Moscow Ring Road, between Novorizhskoye Motorway and the area of the Sputnik residential and public development.
On May 15, 2024, excavation began on the Narodnoye Opolcheniye - Bulvar Generala Karbysheva section. Construction of one of them, the left one, was completed on November 25, 2024. The right tunnel, 1.03 kilometers long, is being excavated by the Victoria TBM.
In September 2024, the Sofia TBM began excavating the right tunnel on the Shelepikha - Zvenigorodskaya section, 360 meters long. Construction of the left tunnel is to be completed in 2025.
In October 2024, the Lilia TBM began excavating an 850-meter tunnel with a diameter of 10 meters between the Bulvar Generala Karbysheva and Serebryany Bor stations.
Construction of all the main line tunnels of the Rublyovo-Arkhangelskaya line from the Shelepikha station to the Lipovaya Roshcha station is to be completed in 2026.
In July 2024, the Moscow Government approved the design project for the construction of the Rublyovo-Arkhangelskaya line (Phase 3), from the Lipovaya Roshcha station to the Ilyinskaya station, six kilometers long, with two new stations:
— Rublyovo-Arkhangelskaya station, which is in the microdistrict of the same name in the Kuntsevo district between Proektiruemy Proyezd No. 7120 and No. 7101;
— Ilyinskaya station, which is in the Kuntsevo district between Ilyinskoye Motorway and the 23rd kilometer of Novorizhskoye Motorway.
The construction site of the Rublyovo-Arkhangelskoye station has already been allocated, and the enclosing structures are being installed.
The Krasnogorsk and Izumrudnye Kholmy stations are to be built.
The opening of the Rublyovo-Arkhangelskaya line will improve transport services for about a million current and future residents of seven central, western and northwestern districts of Moscow (Presnensky, Dorogomilovo, Filyovsky Park, Shchukino, Strogino, Khoroshyovo-Mnyovniki and Kuntsevo), including renovation and integrated development areas. By 2032, the companies operating in the area where the new line runs will create approximately 850,000 jobs, including 300,000 new jobs.
Passengers will have additional travel routes around the city with convenient transfers to the Big Circle Line, the Moscow Metro Solntsevskaya, Filyovskaya, Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya lines and the Moscow Central Circle.
The new line will make it easier to get to the promising SberCity area in Rublyovo-Arkhangelskoye with a population of 56,000 people and 70,000 jobs. The line will connect it with the Moscow-City business district.
City residents will be offered a convenient way to get to popular recreation spaces in the Strogino district, and the congestion of the Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya and Tagansko-Krasnopresnenskaya lines will be reduced. The traffic congestion of Rublyovskoye Motorway and Marshala Zhukova Prospekt will also be relieved, which, will improve the environment in the northwest of Moscow.
Bulvar Generala Karbysheva station
Bulvar Generala Karbysheva, the station under construction, is in the Khoroshyovo-Mnyovniki district along Marshala Tukhachevskogo Street at the intersection with Generala Karbysheva Boulevard. The shallow station is set to get two underground lobbies with exits to Marshala Tukhachevskogo Street and Generala Karbysheva Boulevard.
By 2030, more than 120,000 people will live in the vicinity of the station. They will be able to get to the downtown and western districts faster. For instance, residents will be able to walk from Marshala Tukhachevskogo Street to the nearest Narodnoye Opolcheniye station of the Big Circle Line in four minutes instead of 24. Passengers are also encouraged to get to the Strogino station, offering several recreation areas, 3.5 times faster.
With the opening of the station, more than 24,000 passengers will use it per working day, and by 2030 it will service about 26,000 passengers.
Along with all new stations, Bulvar Generala Karbysheva is being built with passenger comfort in mind, providing turnstiles featuring bankcard payment and Face Pay solutions, ticket vending machines and similarly styled user-friendly navigation system.
Currently, the work is underway to excavate the station and install enclosing structures for the pit. The construction project is 29 per cent complete.
