Sergei Sobyanin unveils Troitskaya line construction facts
The 7.1-kilometer section, including Krymskaya, Akademicheskaya and Vavilovskaya stations, is 41 per cent ready today.

Kornilovskaya station of the new Troitskaya metro line is almost completed, as announced by Sergei Sobyanin.

“They are improving the adjacent area. Finishing of the passenger zone and interior is still in progress. And they will soon begin commissioning of the station’s life support systems,” the Moscow Mayor shared.

Other sections of the emerald line are under construction, too. At Vavilovskaya, they have started finishing the interior and the traction-step-down substation. The ground areas near the tunnel structures on Leninsky Prospekt are getting ready for further improvements. The station will have one underground lobby and three adjacent pedestrian pavilions.

At Akademicheskaya station, the core monolithic structures is half complete, and builders continue to reinforce the concrete base for the escalators. At Akademicheskaya, passengers will be able to change to the same-name station on the Kaluzhsko-Rizhskaya line.

Meanwhile, at Krymskaya station, they have done excavations and have dug a pit and are erecting core structures. In the tunnels, they are building a rigid track foundation and installing engineering networks towards the neighboring ZIL and Akademicheskaya. Krymskaya will have two ground-level lobbies; one of them will be integrated with the lobby of the same-name MCC station.

“The initial four stations of the new 16th line were launched a month ago. It will be one of the longest in the capital’s metro and the longest line outside the Moscow Ring Road,” added Sergei Sobyanin.

New stations at a glance

The 7.1-kilometer section with Krymskaya, Akademicheskaya and Vavilovskaya stations (including the rail haul to the already introduced Novatorskaya) is 41 per cent ready today. Its utility lines have been removed from the construction area; now, they are erecting core structures, backfilling some areas and equipping the previously completed tunnels, all running tunnels having been dug.

Krymskaya station is being built between the Moscow Central Circle tracks and a residential neighborhood in the Donskoy district to have two ground-level lobbies, one connected with the eastern lobby of the same-name MCC station that is located at the intersection of Sevastopolsky Prospekt and the Moscow Central Circle.

The construction project is running in harsh hydrogeological conditions; in order to install the wall in the ground, they removed water from the site and began creating monolithic structures for the platform and the eastern lobby. Excavation and pit digging are completed, and they are now backfilling several parts of the station complex. In addition, in the dug tunnels running towards the neighboring ZIL and Akademicheskaya stations, they are setting a rigid track foundation, installing utility networks and building connections with the tunnel structures, namely a drainage system and two ventilation shafts. All in all, Krymskaya station and adjacent tunnels are 32 per cent ready to date.

The Akademicheskaya station complex is located under Dmitry Ulyanov Street near its intersection with Profsoyuznaya Street and 60-Letiya Oktybrya Prospekt. It will have two underground lobbies, the western one to offer a transfer to Akademicheskaya station on the Kaluzhsko-Rizhskaya line. Each lobby will have pedestrian crossings with stairways to both sides of Dmitry Ulyanov Street, all four exits arranged depending on the existing development.

Metro builders have already taken the utility lines out of the construction site and installed enclosures. They have almost excavated the pit and are constructing the main reinforced concrete structures for the station, which are half ready to date. Builders are also installing the upper platform ceiling, still arranging the western lobby’s ticket hall and reinforcing the concrete base for the escalators. All in all, Akademicheskaya and adjacent tunnels are 44 per cent ready to date.

Vavilovskaya is being built on the odd-numbered side of Leninsky Prospekt, in the area where it adjoins Stroiteley and Panferov Streets. The station will have one underground lobby and three adjacent pedestrian pavilions interconnected by an underground passage and an emergency exit.

They have dug the pit and done the platform space connection, the excavations carried out only near the pedestrian crossing. They are still erecting basic structures, monolithic work being over 75 per cent ready; the backfill is more than a third done. Builders have also begun finishing the interiors and the traction-step-down substation, getting ready the ground areas near the tunnel structures on Leninsky Prospekt for further improvements, in particular, doing partial asphalt paving and greening. Today, Vavilovskay is 51 per cent complete.

Traction-step-down substation at Kornilovskaya station

At Kornilovskaya’s traction-step-down substation, they are busy with preparations for commissioning, in particular, adjusting and testing high-voltage and power equipment. Consisting of only Russia-made components, the traction-step-down substation is designed to distribute electricity and ensure operation of engineering systems.

Builders have installed basic equipment in the design locations and are now installing cables and wires.

The substation premises, which are located behind one of Kornilovskaya’s two lobbies, are finished. As provide for in the substation’s operation requirements, they laid polymer flooring inside to ensure appropriate dust and water resistance levels and antistatic properties.

Now, they are installing engineering networks at Kornilovskaya metro station under construction, to feature 74 engineering systems and almost 3.7 thousand pieces of basic equipment, in accordance with the project. In fact, they have laid about 40 per cent of the cable lines, the total length of installed varying purpose cables reaching 480 kilometers. In parallel, they are installing pipelines and air ducts and setting up external networks. More than 600 builders are engaged at the site every day.
