Sergei Sobyanin: MHSD improves transport accessibility for residents in 48 Moscow districts

In just one year after its launch, the Moscow High-Speed Diameter (MHSD) has become one of the city’s three most popular highways, with around 400,000 motorists using it every day, Sergei Sobyanin shares on his Telegram channel.
It connects the capital’s major outbound highways, such as Dmitrovskoye, Altufyevskoye, Yaroslavskoye, Shchyolkovskoye, Kashirskoye and Varshavskoye motorways, M 12 East Highway, Ryazansky and Volgogradsky prospekts and Entuziastov motorway. The MHSD has improved transport accessibility in 48 city districts, which are home to approximately five million people.
“The MHSD construction involved building 140 bridges, overpasses, flyovers, tunnels and 34 pedestrian crossings; three million square meters of asphalt were laid and 241 thousand tons of metal were used. About 12 thousand workers took part in that,” the Moscow Mayor wrote.

Today, the MHSD is Russia’s longest high-speed diameter with the direct route of 68 kilometers and the total length of almost 223 kilometers, including exits and reconstructed adjacent roads.
The work is still going on. In early September, traffic was launched on the first segment of the 10 th southern section; the MHSD is to be 100 per cent complete by the end of the year with a Solntsevo — Butovo — Varshavskoye Motorway exit as a result.
