Sergei Sobyanin on microelectronics products Technopolis Moscow makes

The Technopolis Moscow Special Economic Zone (SEZ) is home to about 200 companies. High-tech companies produce medicines, laser equipment, optical instruments, robots, factory automation systems and microelectronics products. The latter account for over 8,000 jobs or more than half of those employed in the SEZ, wrote Sergei Sobyanin in his blog.
“The need for import substitution drives the production development. In 2023, employers created thirty percent more jobs in the microelectronics industry and raised 1.5 times more investments compared to 2022,” wrote Moscow Mayor.
The products of SEZ residents are in high demand. Last year, microelectronics manufacturers had almost RUB 48.5 billion in revenues.
Mikron
Mikron, the company creating the largest number of jobs (over 1,700), produces chips for bank cards, international passports, driver’s licenses, Troika Travel Card and Moskvyonok School Card. The company manufactures more than 800 types of products, and for 59 of them mass production began last year.
At the same time, the company launched two new production lines. One of them is used to embed chips in plastic enclosures, assembling more than 40 different types of devices. The line is capable to create up to 18 million products per year. The second line produces chip modules for plastic and SIM cards.
“Mikron also began producing RFID tags last year. We plan to use them when taking inventory of city infrastructure equipment, public spaces and park areas, among other things,” emphasized Sergei Sobyanin.

Nex-T
The company makes displays, multimedia devices, multi-touch panels, software and hardware systems, all-in-one computers, PCs and computing tools. Last year, it developed and launched an in-house motherboard powered by Russian Elvis and Baikal processors.
By the end of 2024, the company is set to produce about 30,000 printed circuit boards for its own needs alone. In addition, it has already received large pre-orders from Russian companies.

Special Design and Technological Bureau of Applied Robotics
The Special Design and Technological Bureau of Applied Robotics produces multifunctional mobile robots and installs chips into electronic circuit boards of its own design.
In 2023, the company developed firefighting robots to replace humans when extinguishing fires at nuclear power plants, mines, warehouse complexes and oil refineries. After being successfully tested, the first devices went to Russian nuclear power plants.

Research Institute of Molecular Electronics (RIME)
RIME is one of the leading developers and manufacturers of semiconductor products. In 2023, the company launched silicon capacitors, which are used in communications, navigation and radar equipment. The output exceeded one million products.
Last year, the institute’s personnel developed an exoskeleton for rehabilitation medicine. The device reads signals from human muscles and records the actual position of the hand. The trained neural network can use this data to predict the most probable trajectory in 0.2 to 0.3 milliseconds. Human body's natural movement is thus enhanced, and its trajectory is predicted with individual physical characteristics in mind.
Exoskeletons are designed to help people recovering from spine, arm and leg injuries. The novelty is currently being tested to improve the functionality of artificial intelligence. Based on its solutions, the company plans to launch a wide range of products.

Zelenograd Nanotechnology Center
The center launched mass production of 44-channel optical multiplexers. They are the first domestic telecommunication devices that provide high-speed data transfer via the Internet.
The Russian multiplexer was designed by the company using its own component base, including photonic integrated circuits. It is capable of transmitting 44 different streams of information over one optical fiber, that is up to 100 times faster than traditional channels. The company can manufacture up to 5,000 photonic devices annually. The first batch is ready to be sent to the customer.
