Moscow offers 100 eco-friendly electric bus routes, Sergei Sobyanin says

Four more bus routes in three districts of the capital were switched to environmentally friendly transport in late September, Sergei Sobyanin blogs.
“Only five years have passed since the opening of the first electric bus route, and today their number has already reached 100!” wrote the Moscow Mayor.
Comfortable cutting-edge electric buses serve the following routes:
— in the South-Eastern Administrative District — T74 (Kuryanovo station of the second Moscow Central Diameter (MCD-2) — Kuzminki metro station) and No. 762 (MCD-2 Kuryanovo station — Bratislavskaya metro station);
— in the Troitsky and Novomoskovsky Administrative Districts — No. 875 (Troitsk — MCD-2 Kuryanovo station).
More than 7.5 thous. trips are taken along the routes on weekdays.
“The fourth electric bus route is a shuttle service for MIPT students from Fiztekh metro station in the Northeastern Administrative District. It was given a nice number — 555. Traveling remains free of charge, while the timetable is still aligned with class schedules. Plus, for the convenience of students, there is an extra stop near Dorm No. 13DKhZ TOS,” Sergei Sobyanin added.

In the spring, the municipality entered into life cycle contracts for the supply of another 1,200 vehicles by KamAZ PJSC and GAZ Group, so Mosgortrans fleet will have almost 30 per cent of electric buses next year.
These will be advanced buses as their power reserve will increase from 40–50 to 80 kilometers, to enable longer traveling after recharge. In addition, the front route information panel will be 18 per cent larger and will be much more visible from afar. The lighting in the cabin will change, depending on the time of the day, for better passenger experience.
Meanwhile, the local authorities continue to expand electric bus charging infrastructure and build advanced technology parks. Russia’s first and Europe’s largest electric bus garage of Krasnaya Pakhra opened in TiNAO in 2022. Mitino, the second garage, has been launched in north-western Moscow this July.
“Noiseless, environmentally friendly and durable electric buses are ideal for an agile megacity like Moscow. That is why we will have more and more electric bus routes,” Sergei Sobyanin says.
