Prospects for further development
The centralized technical support service will accompany the Wi-Fi functioning and communicate with the customers, if necessary, using the phone number 8−800−300−69−89.
The City Council has come to a decision to make the coverage of the city spaces and locations connected to the network completely seamless and to unite all the public networks of the urban Wi-Fi created by other operators on a single networked platform, or make available more than 16 thousand hotspots allowing you to access the free wireless Internet covering almost the entire city. After launching a single operator of the Urban Wi-Fi, the residents and guests of Moscow will be able to be connected to the Internet on the streets within the Garden Ring, locally within the Third Ring Road, in the parks, libraries, culture centers, museums, the "MosKino" theatre chain and dormitories affiliated with universities and colleges without any re-authorization.
*Based on the results of the tender, "MaksimaTelecom" JSC was awarded as single operator of the Urban Wi-Fi. This company shall provide the integration of the networks of the Urban Wi-Fi on a single digital networked platform, as well as they shall organize the functioning of the centralized technical support service.

How to get connected
To get connected to the Urban Wi-Fi, you have to select a Moscow_WiFi_Free network from the list of available networks, to open the browser and to log in with an account on the official portal of the Moscow Mayor and Moscow Government mos.ru or with an SMS*.

The identification in the City Wi-Fi Network is to be made only every 3 months. To use the Internet later on, you have only to select the Moscow_WiFi_Free network, open the browser and press the ‘Connect' button.

*Why the user identification is required?

The users identification to access Wi-Fi in public places is a requirement of the Russian legislation. Before opening access to the Internet, the telecom operator is obliged to offer the user:

  • enter his/her mobile phone number, to which a code will be sent to confirm the data entered;
  • specify his/her last name, first name and patronymic, confirming them with an identity document, an account on the unified portal of public services (or the portal of the Moscow Mayor mos.ru) or in any other way that does not contradict the law.
